Well it’s been another long halt since I’ve put something on this blog of mine! The only excuse that I can come up with is…well summer kicked in! Id rather be out in the surf and soaking up the sun (not like I really need anymore of it). During my last posts I’ve been currently working at a camera shop just down the road from my house. It’s been pretty sweet given the opportunity that it takes me less then 4 minutes on bike to get there and during my 1hr lunch breaks I ride back home, make my lunch, either go for a swim or surf depending the conditions and have a power nap in the hammock. Then on my bike I go, back to work all refreshed! I’ve learnt a lot of info about the technical side of photography, cameras and the interesting people who pop in, which I find the best part of the job surprisingly! I really enjoy having a chat to strangers about cameras and especially their own stories of their. I dunno, my previous job never gave me the opportunity to really speak to an actual client, I generally hated them cause they were very difficult to deal with, so I find this a good change.
I thought id put up this pic a previous client had given me. Sadly here mother had just recently passed away and she needed to get all these printed photos scanned and then made into a movie slide DVD thingo’ asap. She came into the camera shop asking for some guidance, we were able to easily scan the photos for a bloody bullshit price in my opinion. $1 per 6x4 image when she needed 63 done, when the shop has a automatic image scanner. Stack up the photos in order, press "scan" and it automatically scans each photo and names them. Seriously should of at least been half the price! Anyhoot I felt the pain she was going through after recently losing my auntie a few months ago so I was willing to provide as much help as I could. As her mother was Danish he was leaving for Denmark in a couple of days where the funeral was being held, she needed the DVD produced asap. Producing it overnight I was successfully able to give her the 20 copies that she requested and I can tell she was happy with my work and especially touched.
C’mon good karma, where are ya?
